Blocked nose

We think of grass as the lawn outside our house, the green mantle which covers the countryside and provides pasture for cattle. But in fact this plant group includes many more species.

So what are grasses? They are what is botanically known as the Gramineae or Poaceae plant family, normally characterized by  green spiky leaves which cover the ground.

Also belonging to this large clan are numerous cereals like wheat, oat, rice, barley and tougher plants like bamboo and sugar cane. Even some trees belong to this group.

So when it comes to allergies, grasses pollen allergy, also known as hayfever, is the most common one.

And what are grasses allergy symptoms? They are normally a blocked nose and sneezing, which is defined as allergic rhinitis, itchy, sore eyes or conjunctivitis, skin rash or even asthma.

While flower pollen is transported by insects, grass pollen is moved around by wind, so it is far more widespread and extremely difficult to avoid. And while the peak period is normally spring to mid summer, some grasses pollinate until late summer and even in autumn. Nobody can cope with a blocked nose for that amount of time.

There are a number of anti-allergy remedies currently available, from  nasal sprays for a blocked nose,to eye drops, tablets and shots, which are very powerful and effective, a doctor or pharmacist can advise you on these.

But if you believe prevention is better than cure, then you should try SinuSet nasal filters, which use a special material to filter out pollen as well as dust and smoke and other allergens, protecting you from allergic reactions and effectively cleaning the air you breathe.

They are small and easy to insert directly into the nose, comfortable to wear for both adults and children.

For more information, see SinuSet full description, forget a blocked nose, enjoy the outdoors again!
